A man from London has started proceedings in the County Court after Ebay decided to suspend his Ebay account with no valid reason given.
The Claimant, who wishes to remain annonymous at this time, states that he had been buying on Ebay since 2002 then one day Ebay just suspended his account without notice, and with no valid reson given. They just sent him an ambigious email saying that his account had been suspended for breaching Ebay's terms and conditions and that they could do this any time they like.
The Claimant tried, unsuccessfully, get Ebay to lift the suspension and to at least explain why they had done this. The Claimant was in the middle of several financial transactions with Sellers and was forced to cancel them because he could not even log into his own account and communicate with them. Thus, he had to go elsewhere to purchase goods at a higher cost and was caused great inconvenience in trying to track what had been delivered and what had not.

We feel this is an important test case and as Ebay's monopoly in on-line shoping is growing out of control and out of check. They seem to be a law unto themselves and can treat people any way they see fit. The latest scandal involving Ebay is when they pulled the plug on sellers' listings in the UK automatically appearing on the .com (US) site. The BBC highlighted the fact that Ebay were forced to apologise for this. An apology from Ebay is as rare as hens' teeth!
In the interests of public safety (of your money on Ebay) we have decided to contact the media and publicise this case and we will inform you of developments as they occur.
We have writtent to Ebay UK Managing Director Douglas McCallum and have yet to receive a reply.
